Do I have to have Access installed on my workstation to view or print the Visual Asset Manager Web reports?
Reports are provided in Microsoft Access® format for VAM Web and Enterprise deployments that use Microsoft Access® as the database, and in Crystal Reports® format for VAM Web and Enterprise deployments that use Microsoft SQL Server® as the database. You will only need the full version of Access or Crystal Reports installed on your machine if you wish to edit or create reports. To view and print reports you only need to have the Run Time version of Access installed, which can be downloaded from our Support Center.
Do I need any special software to add floor plan graphics in Visual Asset Manager?
No, Visual Asset Manager will recognize any standard graphic format, including jpeg, gif and bmp.
Will Visual Asset Manager’s security integrate with my Windows domain security?
No, you will need to create user accounts for each user that will access the application.
I do not have floor plans of my building, can I still use Visual Asset Manager to track my assets?
Yes, floor plans are not a requirement to use Visual Asset Manager, but they are one of the most powerful features of the software.
Can I assign my IT employees to be responsible for only one type of asset, for example, Computers?

Yes, if a user tries to drag a piece of equipment on to the floor plan that has already been assigned, they will receive a message warning them of this.
Does Visual Asset Manager have any bar code scanning capabilities?
Visual Asset Manager supports the most popular bar code standards, which means that almost any barcode can be easily scanned or printed. Barcode labels can quickly be printed for hardware items that do not already have a valid barcode.
I need to add more personal information for “Employee” assets, can I do this?
Yes, using the Form Designer (VAM Architect) you can add as many additional fields as you like to the Asset Information form.
I already have the Visual Asset Manager Team, but I would like to upgrade to the Visual Asset Manager Web/Enterprise. Can I do this without having to start over?
To change versions you will need uninstall VAM Team and install VAM Web or Enterprise, but you can still use your original database. To upgrade to VAM Enterprise you will need to upsize your VAM database from Microsoft Access® to Microsoft SQL Server®. VAM Enterprise includes a utility to do this.
